Photo Session Process

The goal of this session is to create a work of art that you will hang on your wall. For some this means a classic studio portrait and for others it means something more conceptual and fun.

Portrait Session: 1.5 hours - $495

Before our session we will have a 30 minute planning meeting, either on the phone or in person, to discuss the goals of the portrait and what you can expect from the experience.

When you arrive at the location for our shoot my assistant and I will have the lighting and backdrop set up and ready.  We will make images for around 45 minutes, pausing periodically to review the work so far and make adjustments.

In the end I will have captured several hundred images. My next step is to work through these, select the best ones and electronically "develop" them for you to preview.

About a week later we will meet and review the images together for you to make your final selections and to purchase prints.

The final step is for me to work with my professional print lab to create archival quality works of art for you to enjoy for years to come.

The price above assumes a location within greater Los Angeles. For other locations an additional travel surcharge may apply.

Digital Delivery

Even though the goal is to end up with a physical work of art, we can't neglect social media and online sharing.  With this in mind you will be provided with final versions suitable for web/social sharing as well as higher resolution versions that are ideal for use on a website.

Additional Services

Set Building:  Prices Vary

I have managed to amass a great deal of lighting and backdrop gear that can be used to create a wide variety of images.  Sometimes our creative vision requires that we build a set or acquire props and other decoration.  If this is needed we will discuss it during our planning meeting and agree up-front to any additional costs.

Additional shooting time: $150 per hour

Some more ambitious project require more time to get the shot.  In those instances we will agree to the extra time up-front so there are no unexpected costs.  Half-day and full-day rates are also available.

Large format prints: Prices Vary

All of the images I take are shot at very high resolution and will print well in larger formats. I work with professional photo labs who can make huge posters and art-style canvas, metal, or acrylic prints.  Your imagination is the limit and prices vary from tens of dollars to hundreds of dollars depending on size and material.

Complex Retouching: $40 and up

Removing a few blemishes or stray hairs is part of the standard package. In-depth retouching, like replacing backgrounds, adding special effects, or re-contouring your body, carries an extra charge. The cost varies depending on complexity but the typical charge per images is $40. Contact me for more details.
